My Weekend Garden 06/06/09

Photobucket
Yesterday we mowed the front and back lawn. Funny, because Anastasia started and I stopped her part way through the side yard and told her I'd finish. She didn't want to give up playing with the new lawn tractor, so I distracted her and took the keys out of the ignition. Lol! I told her to go garden while I mowed. Hehehehe.

So she gardened. She put out landscaping fabric around our Lilac Bushes and along the side by the Rose Bush and planted Dahlia Bulbs and Yellow Petunias. Right now it doesn't look like much but a few flowers sticking out of the blackness and mounds of mulch, but when it is done, it's going to look nice. Baby steps. It will get there.

Have a great weekend.

  3. What is the landscape fabric being used for? We are constantly removing this, from properties we work on, as it, just collects weeds.

  4. @ Harriet - You're too funny!

@ Teresa - I'll be sure to stop by.

@ Pete Morse - Landscape fabric is to prevent weeds. We are using it to kill the grass beneath the fabric in areas that we are landscaping. Ultimately we will be putting decorative rock on top of it, surrounding our plantings. It is to prevent weed growth from poking through those rocks. Of course if one were to put the fabric down and do nothing, airborn seeds could take hold and weeds begin to grow.

  9. hi Lola!
Best wishes with the dahlias and petunias!

I was wondering if you could help me identify some of the plants in my garden. I am a newbie gardener, so i don't know a lot. So i bank on experienced gardeners like you to help me.
All i ask is for you to name the plant for me. And i would give you 100 EC's for every plant. I hope you could it a visit, if it wouldn't mean much of your time.
    Thank you very much.
